Cheerio has the cute factor

CUTE kitten Cheerio is the cat’s meow as he is announced the winner of this year’s Carrick Gazette Pet Factor competition.

Gazette readers chose five-month-old Cheerio as our 2012 champion from eight nominees - including cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs - and owner Anne Richardson was delighted to see him triumph.

Cheerio arrived with keen cat fan Anne at six weeks old, joining a household of three other felines - including 2009 Pet Factor winner Jangles - at 3 Church Crescent, Dailly.

“When I saw Cheerio in the paper I was really surprised,” said Anne.

“It was really unexpected because it was all a last minute thing. It took me three times to send the email to enter and by the time I found the photo I wanted to send I thought, ‘I’ll just leave it up to the public and see what happens’. I was thrilled to bits to see him win.”
