Roadshow on future of Ayrshire tourism
CARRICK is to receive a visit from a tourism team determined to hail hundreds more holidaymakers in Ayrshire and Arran.
The new Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Team will implement development plans intended to increase visitor numbers and subsequently help create jobs across Ayrshire. They will be touring South Ayrshire’s tourism hotspots to introduce themselves to community members in a series of events this month and next.
A joint collaboration between the industry and the three local authorities, the Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Strategy is a five-year plan outlining a vision for the growth and development of tourism in the region.
Anyone from a tourism business or community group is welcome to attend and find out more about the strategy and details of the first round of projects that will be developed over the coming months. These projects include golf, water-sports, culture and heritage and business communication.
At each roadshow, after the presentations, the team will discuss how businesses can benefit from the activities they will be rolling out.
Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council, said: “I would encourage people from tourism or business groups to book a place at one of the roadshows. This is an opportunity to find out more about what the future holds for tourism in Ayrshire.”
As well as visiting Irvine, Cumnock and Arran, the team will come to the Woodland Bay Hotel, Girvan, on Wednesday September 26 from 10am-12pm, and the Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway on Thursday September 27 from 1pm to 3pm.
There will be tour of each venue and refreshments will be provided.
Anyone wishing to attend must book a place, and can do so by contacting Laura Cree on 01292 616130, or emailing email@example.com .
Free ferry tickets are available for anyone wishing to go to the Arran event from the mainland on Tuesday October 2. This event will take place from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
