How time flies! The start of the Scout Association’s youngest section, the Beaver Scouts, seems to be quite recent but it was a whole 30 years ago.

To celebrate, Beavers from all over Kyle & Carrick met at Rozelle Park for a Birthday Fun Day in lovely sunny June weather.

The group also took part in a “Jamboree”, a big camp that’s run for Scouts from all over the world. The “Jamboree On The Trail”, or JOTT for short, gets members out on a hike in their own area but all on the same day.

Beaver Scouts from all over Kyle & Carrick walked from Ayr sea-front to Belleisle, coming back after a fun-packed games session.

The Beavers earned an attractive event badge as well as a credit for their “Hikes Away” Activity Badge. The photo selection shows lots of enjoyment on a beautiful summer day. There are more photos on display in the Scout Hall.

The Scout Group is closing at the end of June for the summer holidays, when the leaders can enjoy a well-deserved break. The Group resumes when the schools go back near the end of August. There will be vacancies for boys and girls in Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8-10½ years) and Scouts (10½-14 years) and adult volunteers are always needed. Contact the group at girvanscouts@gmail.com or follow them on Facebook, where they are called 3rd Ayrshire 1st Girvan Scout Group, or just go to the hall when it’s open.
