A wealth of folk experience

As a warm up to the Girvan Folk Festival Girvan Folk Clubs welcomes Lanarkshire based band Haggerdash to the club on Friday 22nd April.

The five piece band are Alan Jones (Concertina, Bouzouki, Guitar, 5-String Banjo and vocals), Jack Bethel (Hammered Dulcimer, Fiddle, Whistle and Concertina), David Logan (Tenor Banjo, Mandolin, Citern, Bodhran and Vocals and Billy Stewart (Bouzouki, Guitar,5-String Banjo, Harmonica and Bodhran).

The band’s website states that there main purpose in performing is to provide an evening of fun and music.

But it should perhaps be amended to read fun and world class music as the members of the band bring a wealth of folk experience to their music.

At various times in their musical careers the members having performed with a variety of well-known line-ups.

These include Cairdie’s Brig, Setanta, Three’s A Crowd, Four Provinces Ceilidh Band, Hot Toddy, The Govan Spoonful and Clachnacuddin.

The Concert kicks off at 8.30pm in the back hall of the Queens with tickets priced £8 available at the door.
