Recently the Rotary Club of Girvan made a visit to the Whisky Experience in Kirkoswald.

But they did not take a drop of whisky - they we were on a Gin Experience and under the watchful eye of the expert Raphael Marinoni enjoyed a tour through the world of gin.

The Whisky Experience in Kirkoswald is owned by Tim Morrison a local South Ayrshire man and he and his late dad Stanley have been in the whisky world for some considerable time, owning Chivas, Bowmore, Garioch and Auchentoshan to name a few distilleries over the years. Tim at the moment is distilling his first brew in Glasgow. This whisky will be distilled at what has been named Clydeside Distillery and all await its first bottling.

Tim’s Whisky Experience is a superb tourist attraction which sees visitors to beautiful South Ayrshire from America, Germany, Holland, England and most of the rest of the world. Many of the visitors are enjoying the local golf, the whisky and the scenery.

Alistair Wallace said: “Our gin tastings were selected by Raphael and we were offered a selection of mixers/fruits to try and to establish our favourites. A lot of gin is made in Scotland so it should be our 3rd national drink.

“The Whisky Shop and Experience offers a diverse range of whiskies and gins for all tastes and budgets.

“From known brands to lesser-known gems of individual cask bottlings, a section completely dedicated to the old and very rare alongside a selection from around the world. They have a whisky or a gin for everyone! And we tried some.

Girvan Rotary then made their way to the Royal Hotel in Girvan. and were joined by Tim Morrison who was for the excellent dinner provided by Paul Brown and Nancy Rae of the Royal Hotel.
