A new theatre production to open in Glasgow next month is based in Girvan.

Weekend in Girvan opens at the The Old Sheriff Court, Brian Cox Studio Theatre, 105 Brunswick Street, and runs from October 27-29.

Writer Isabella Baronello describes the production as a jukebox musical.

The play is based around four woman who work in the fictional Bernard Bazzar’s pound shop and share a weekend in Girvan.

How far will they go to protect each other? Does Bernard stand a chance? Does Hawkett Mawkett have a heart? Does D.C. Murdo or D.C Summers have a clue?

A combination of music and a party atmosphere with some poignant moments delivers an uplifting night out.

In celebration of Halloween the cast are holding a fancy dress competition on the 29th of October show. It is optional and a prize will be awarded for the best costume.

The stage production which is entirely independently financed is based on a short film written and produced by Isabella Baronello also titled ‘Weekend in Girvan’.
