Ayrshire taiko drummer beats a path back home

The taiko drummers
The taiko drummers

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are on tour throughout May 2013, with their full concert of thundering rhythms on huge taiko drums, mysterious masked choreography with inventive lighting, muscular synchronisation timed to perfection, post-apocalyptic imagery & infectious belly laugh humour - all in a spellbinding display of pure energy & sheer athleticism. Last year alone they thrilled audiences at over 80 venues across the UK and as far afield as Japan and the Middle East.

Group member Barry Jack is originally from Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, and is thrilled to be performing right on his doorstep at the Ayr Town Hall. The group are looking forward to their return to Ayr after a five year absence, having previously performed successful concerts at the Gaiety.

The year 2012 was an important one for the group, as the two founders of the group, Neil Mackie & Miyuki Williams celebrated 20 years since first travelling to Japan & starting on their Taiko path. Next year sees the group celebrate 20 years of performing in the UK. This milestone makes Mugenkyo the longest touring & most successful taiko group around. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to capture them live in 2013.

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers will be performing on Friday 3rd May at Ayr Town Hall, door open 7.30pm.
