Marie Mortimer, the popular local organist from Barrhill, is to play the fine Lewis pipe organ in Ayr Town Hall on Monday 14 April from 12 noon for an hour. She is generously giving her fee to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

This lunchtime concert is one of 33 to be given this year, following five years of successful summer concerts since 2009. Marie is the first lady organist to play in The Organist Entertains series, and admission is only £2 at the door.

The series is arranged by volunteers from Fort, Seafield and Wallacetoun Community Council to showcase the outstanding instrument, one of only six municipal organs in Scotland. It is a baby brother to the Lewis in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, where the organ is played daily.
