TIME IS running out for budding young artists in Carrick to have their work front an innationally-renowned festival.

Children aged 5-16 are being encouraged to enter the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Schools Poster Competition for 2013 – before the entry deadline on Friday March 15.

The 2012 competition saw over 3,000 entries and eight-year-old Marc Robb from Bainsford Primary School, Falkirk, was crowned the competition’s overall winner.

His colourful and humorous design (pictured) was used for a range of Fringe merchandise including t-shirts, mugs, postcards and posters, became a familiar image in Edinburgh throughout the festival.

Cash prizes of £150-£300 are up for grabs for four lucky winners, and their school could receive up to £750. The winner and runners-up will also receive six tickets each for the 2013 Virgin Money Fireworks Concert in Edinburgh.

Kath Mainland, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society said: “We are looking for a unique and eye-catching poster design that represents the variety and vibrancy of the Fringe – the rest is up to the young people who take part.”
