Charity lunch is biggest event of year

The Ayrshire Fundraising Group hold many events to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care but their biggest event of the year is their fundraising Lunch in May.

This year, the lunch is moving venue to the beautiful marquee at Enterkine House Hotel near Annbank.

It will be held on Wednesday 2nd May with the event starting with a drinks reception from 12.15pm – 12.30pm.

The Lunch this year is entitled “Gallow Tales and Carrick Skullduggery” and will feature guest speakers; Author and Journalist Katie Grant and founder of Black Raven Living History, Girvan man Denis Reid.

Katie is married to William Grant, the son of the late and much loved Sherriff Douglas Grant and his wife Audrey from Ayrshire.

She is an historian novelist whose five times great Uncle Frank was the last person to be hung, drawn and quartered, his treason being to support Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Denis founded Black Raven Living History and will deliver a colourful insight on Sir Gilbert Kennedy IVth Earl of Cassillis, the King of Carrick and notoriously known as the most dangerous man in Carrick waging bloody deeds against his cousin Kennedy of Bargany.

Tickets are now on sale for the lunch, they are £25 each or discounted to £275 for a table of 12 and available by contacting Fiona at the Marie Curie Fundraising Office in Prestwick on 01292 478328  or email fiona.leitch@mariecurie.org.uk.
