Carrick Chess Club has won the 2nd division trophy for the 4th time! From left to right: Jim McTaggart, who is enjoying playing again successfully; Athol Macgilchrist helped to win this trophy for Carrick in 2004, as well as in 2013 for Ayr!

Steell McFadzean is the president and the founding father of the club. Siegrun Macgilchrist played the most league games, and won a grading prize in the Ayrshire championship.

Ali Roy got 5/8 in the chess Olympiad playing for Scotland. Charlie Roy is her proud father. He got 1.5/2 but couldn’t play more games because he works nights. Dr Kenneth Brooksbank was best performer with 6.5/7 and won the Knight trophy! Seated were Charlotte and Matthew Brooksbank, two keen juniors.
