CHILDREN in Carrick are being encouraged to get creative for Christmas and design a seasonal greetings card.
As part of their seasonal Christmas campaign, the National Garden Gift Voucher scheme has joined forces with garden centres across the UK to hold a Design a Christmas Card Competition for children 12 years old and under.
The competition, which forms part of a campaign that aims to get more youngsters interested in gardening, opened on Monday, and children have a month to get their festive thinking caps on and come up with a decorative design.
The winning entry will receive £150 of garden goodies and also get to see their design printed and used nationwide as a National Garden Gift Voucher Christmas card – which will be on display in over 2,000 garden retail outlets around the UK.
There will be also be seven regional winners in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Northern England, Midlands, South East and South West, who will each receive a £50 National Garden Gift Voucher.
Children can submit their designs by downloading an entry form from www.vouchergardenblog.com/competition. Completed entry forms, with finished design, should be submitted by the closing date of October 15.
