Club hears of Ugandan charity projects

At the Rotary Club of Girvan Meeting in the Royal Hotel on 5th June the guest speaker was the Rev. Iain Laing who gave an illustrated account of the Luwero Community Projects, a charity registered in Scotland and established to promote the vision and work of the Rev. Gabriel and his wife Deborah Kijjambu in Uganda.

22 acres of ground was purchased in 2002 to provide a base from which to share the Christian gospel in a relevant and practical way to the surrounding community. Projects include a Church,Primary and Secondary Schools, a clinic a farm and an orphanage.

Financial support and sponsorship are greatly appreciated and volunteers to help with the practical work there is most welcome.

Peter Noble expressed the Club’s thanks for an informative and well illustrated address and wished the charity well in its work to provide spiritual, economic and social responses to needs in that area.

Many thanks to all who supported the Rotary Club raffle at the Lowland Gathering. Over £500 was raised for charities supported by Rotary throughout the world.
