Coastal smugglers are on the road again

Join a coach journey of discovery on Sunday 5 June as we make our way up the coast from Stranraer to Girvan following in the footsteps of the men and women who smuggled tobacco, tea and rum into the bays and coves along that coastline in the 18th century.

With a commentary by Frances Wilkins, social historian and author, in partnership with the organisers of the Ballantrae Smugglers’ Festival, there’s a number of stops en route (but no strenuous exercise!).

Meet outside the Harbourmaster’s Office at Stranraer at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm departure. You can park in the free long stay car park. We expect to be back in Stranraer between 4.30pm and 5pm. Tickets price £6. This road trip is suitable for adults and older children. To be sure of a place or for more information contact Andy McAlpine on 07920517700.
