Ayrshire school pupils now have the opportunity to apply for a two-year long college course while still in school.

Ayrshire College is offering three Foundation Apprenticeships in: Children and Young People, Software Development and Engineering, all at SCQF Level 6 (Higher).

An information session has been arranged for parents and pupils who are interested in applying for one of these Foundation Apprenticeships this year. These sessions will be held on the 27th April 2016 at 5:30pm – 6:30pm at the Kilmarnock Campus (Software Development), Ayr Campus (Children and Young People) and the Skills Centre of Excellence in Irvine (Engineering).

Skills Development Scotland developed Foundation Apprenticeships in association with industry bodies to help Scotland’s young people gain valuable work-based learning while still attending school.

Bridging the gap between the classroom and the workplace enables school pupils to gain a head start on their careers by completing a Foundation Apprenticeship alongside other subjects at National 5 and Higher level.

These courses offer S4 and S5 pupils the opportunity to learn both at college and in the workplace.
