Colmonell’s WRI host first meeting of 2015

Vice President Beryl Howard welcomed members and friends to the first meeting of 2015 for Colmonell W.R.I on Wednesday 14 January.

Beryl was delighted with the turnout on a stormy evening.

Margaret Robertson read out invitations from Kirkmichael, Straiton and Alloway rurals in February.

A letter of thanks was read out from Dora Wilson who is recovering from surgery before Beryl introcued Kirsty Hyslop, a bio medical science student at the University of Glasgow.

Kirsty’s slides showcased many aspects of infection and pictures of different samples of blood from healthy and infected ones.

She talked on different aspects of her course which include haemotology, microbiology, pathology and bacteriaology.

Kirsty then judged the competitions which were:

Hand sewn button hole: 1st: Margaret Robertson.

Trinket Box: 1st: Irene Wilson. 2nd Margaret Robertson. 3rd Ann Robertson

After a vote by members Dumfries House will be the venue for the summer outing in May. Next month’s meeting is on Feberuary 11th.
