Colmonell WRI host open night

President Nancy Agnew welcomed members and friends to the open night of Colmonell WRI on Wednesday, February 12.

Due to the adverse weather the guest artiste was unable to travel but at short notice Dr Tom Smith from Pinwherry entertained the meeting with an interesting talk on healthy living.

Tom talked about his book on healthy physical intelligence and explained the three EEEs, eat slowly, exercise more and enjoy your food.

Nancy gave a hearty vote of thanks and added she had never heard the ladies so quiet. Tom and his wife Mary judged the competition; Cranachan 1 Nancy Agnew 2 Margaret Robertson 3 Janet Gradey; Funny birthday card 1 Irene Wilson 2 Nancy Agnew 3 Beryl Howarth.

Ann Robertson and Tricia McIlwraith raised £38.40 from a well-filled sales table.

Next month Colmonell WRI celebrates its 87th birthday party on Wednesday, March 12 with catering by the Boars Head Hotel.

Colmonell WRI will host a whist drive on March 7 in Colmonell Community Centre at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Nancy closed the meeting and wished all a safe journey home.
