Concert series returns to Ayr for Christmas
WORLD class musicians are set to return to Ayr this Christmas in the 25th Ayr Concert Series.
Members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera with international conductors and soloists will be performing in Ayr Town Hall as part of this year’s Ayr Arts Guild concert series.
At 7.30pm on Saturday December 1 the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will perform Rodrigo’s neo-classical guitar concerto, which was first performed in Barcelona in 1940.
The concert will open with the first performance of a new commission from John Maxwell Geddes, one of Scotland’s leading composers, and will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Looking ahead at 7.30pm on Thursday December 20, the concert will be a traditional celebration featuring well-loved Christmas carols and music with a varied range of tunes to suit most tastes.
Tickets for the concerts are available from Ayr Citadel, South Harbour Street, Ayr, KA7 1JB, telephone 01292 269793. Tickets for the circle are £22, the stalls £19, students (stalls seat) £3 and school children (stalls seats) £3.
The Ayr Concert Series is supported by South Ayrshire Council, Ayr Arts Guild and Ayr Citadel. It is subsidised by South Ayrshire Council and Enterprise Music Scotland supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
