Creek returns with a feature length mystery

He’s back! Last seen in the Easter Special - The Judas Tree - three years ago, Jonathan Creek returns with his third partner Joey Ross to solve a new feature length mystery at 8.30pm on BBC1 on Easter Monday.

Called The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb this new mystery follows the usual Creek pattern of the magician’s assistant/creator of illusions solving what at first sight appears to be an impossible mystery.

This is only the first of a number of unusual situations that Creek has to encounter in the course of this special episode. Alan Davies returns to his familiar role, still partnered with Sheridan Smith who plays a paranormal investigator.

As usual the mystery is written by David Renwick who is also the Director of the piece. There are a number of impressive guest stars as usual in this new episode including Young Ones Rik Mayall and Nigel Planer and the absolutely fabulous Joanna Lumley. This episode has the usual mixture of mystery and comedy.

It seems that David Renwick is enjoying being back writing for this show as we have been promised three more new Jonathan Creek episodes in the near future as well.

Jonathan Creek is a series with an interesting history in that it was first shown almost sixteen years ago on the tenth of May 1997.

While its first episode was a feature length one the next four were standard hour long episodes. In the years that followed there were three more series of six hour long episodes and four feature length episodes. Those people who enjoy this episode can purchase all the classic episodes on DVD.
