This Friday evening from 7pm till 1am the following morning (with only a break for the main news), BBC 1 have scheduled their main programme in support of this year’s Sport Relief.
Sporting personalities alongside stars from the world of show business will be doing what they can to help raise much needed funds.
In between the various sporting and entertainment items will be a series of short films which will be demonstrating how the money raised could help change the lives of people both here in the UK and also around the world.
The programme will, in the main, come live from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The item which many people will probably be looking forward to the most, will be the special one-off episode of the classic situation comedy, Only Fools and Horses.
Since the sad passing of that show’s creator John Sullivan, it was thought that the Trotters would never appear again on the small screen in new situations.
However when David Beckham expressed an interest in featuring in a sketch set in Peckham, David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst were eager to be involved as well.
It will be fascinating to discover just what Del and Rodney have been doing since we last saw them!
There will also be a special series of sporting challenges between two celebrity teams captained by John Bishop and Sebastian Coe as they compete for a special trophy.
In recent weeks various celebrities including Davina McCall, Alex Jones and Robbie Savage have been putting in a lot of effort and their various endeavours will also be screened. Knowing how generous the British viewing public are, it will be interesting to find out what this year’s total will be!
