Join fellow ramblers for a walk, some fun and a barbecue on Sunday 20th September at 1.30pm. The circular walk starts and finishes at the McCandlish Hall in Straiton village centre and offers some beautiful views.
The full walk is approximately 3.7 miles but there are shorter alternatives – it’s very possibly a new route for many as the walk has only recently been created. Non walkers are very welcome to come along for the barbecue and refreshments. Bring your cameras as there’ll be a photo competition plus one of Straiton’s famous raffles. In the event of rain the barbecue will still go ahead, although walkers may prefer the shorter route!
The event is organised by Save Straiton for Scotland to update supporters on the campaign to protect Straiton and surrounding communities from inappropriate development. Along the walk will be montages to show how wind farms would impact the setting of the village and destroy views of surrounding countryside. Donations to Save Straiton for Scotland would be very welcome.
Save Straiton for Scotland was formed in 2013 after plans for five wind farms almost surrounding Straiton were revealed, since then a sixth has been added. The current Chair is Lalage Burchall-Nolan.
