Events across the area in support of Ayrshire Hospice

Purple people were spotted all over Ayrshire on Friday as individuals, groups and businesses hosted purple events for Go Purple, a major fundraiser for the Ayrshire Hospice and part of this year’s Hospice Care Week (3rd – 9th October).

Hospice mascot Agent H, attended lots of different events across Ayrshire including a visit to school children at Muirhead Nursery and Primary, Troon, Forehill Primary in Ayr and Loudoun Academy in Galston. Businesses across Ayrshire also donned their purple accessories including at The Co-operative Food in Dreghorn, Microtech Digital, The McKinstry Company, Arthur J Gallagher and Swinton Insurance to name but a few!

North, East and South Ayrshire Councils had lots of purple festivities arranged including numerous whole schools going purple for the day, a very purple Provost in North Ayrshire and the station clock in Kilmarnock being turned purple for the night!

Students at Ayrshire College’s Townholm Campus also made it a purple “last day” to remember before heading to their new campus in Kilmarnock.

Purple bucket collections were held across Ayrshire including Asda in Ayr and also in Ayr Town Centre leading into Hospice Care Week.

Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce kindly held a purple “Canapes, cupcakes and cocktails” event with Buzzworks in Elliots, Prestwick to bring Ayrshire Business Week to a fitting close. The Ayrshire Association of Business Women ran a fun purple princess pub quiz in the Foxbar Hotel, Kilmarnock and Access to Employment in Ayr held a purple cake sale!

Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager at the Ayrshire Hospice said: “Huge thanks go to the people of Ayrshire who once again pulled out all the purple stops on Friday in aid of the hospice.

“We are so grateful for your support, creativity and energy.

“This is the fifth year we have celebrated Go Purple and it’s shaping up to be the best year yet! Funds are coming in thick and fast and we hope to be able to announce a grand total in the next few weeks. Watch this space!”

Go Purple funds can be submitted by handing them in to the fundraising office, 29 Miller Road, Ayr KA7 2AX or send a cheque payable to “Ayrshire Hospice”. Please mark all funds submitted with the heading “Go Purple”. Donations are still being welcomed by sending a text to PURP07 plus £5, or your preferred amount to 70070.
