Girvan Folk Clubs first concert of its Spring Programme features Irish fiddler Brendan Hendry and Johnny Toman on guitar and five string banjo.
Brendan hails from Bellaghy in South Derry and was awarded Musician of the Year at the liveIreland Music Awards in 2012. His first album TUNED UP launched in November 2008 has captured the heart of all the people who have listened to it.
Reviewed in FROOTS the CD was called “an album so damned good that its essence should be bottled and force fed to all Irish infants”.
Noted for his impeccable style and taste are Brendan is rated amongst his peers as a stunningly gifted musician with a grasp of the music and soulful playing which defines what the Irish fiddle is all about. Johnny is gifted player and singer with a lively style which perfectly complements Brendan’s playing.
