CATHY JAMIESON MSP thanked people in Carrick for their support after she faced calls to resign. The then Justice Minister in the Scottish Government faced resignation calls in the national media after a convicted murderer James McCormick was released in error by private prison escort firm Reliance and was on the run for a week. However, Ms Jamieson said she had been heartened by the support she had received from her constituents at her Girvan surgery and also from telephone calls.

the five star Glenapp Castle was awarded the Scottish Quality Hotel Award at the first annual Hotel Review Scotland awards in Edinburgh. 2004 was an extraordinary year for the castle as their head chef Tristan Welch won a Gordon Ramsay scholarship and also gained a third AA Rosette for the castle’s restaurant and also was nominated for Scottish Hotel chef of the year by the Scottish Chef’s Association.
