South Ayrshire citizens with a ‘hero’ in their lives are being urged to nominate them for the Family Heroes Awards 2012.
The awards, run by children and families charity 4Children and top selling women’s weekly magazine Take A Break, recognises those inspirational, outstanding individuals who have gone beyond the call of duty to help families and children throughout the UK.
Each finalist will receive an all expenses paid trip to London to attend the Family Heroes Awards Ceremony on Thursday 1 November, and will have their story featured in Take a Break. The overall National Family Hero will receive a £2,000 cash prize.
Retuning awards host, radio and TV presenter Neil Fox, said: “Families are at the heart of our communities and the Family Hero Awards are a time to celebrate this and thank those that have made a real difference in helping to support families and children across the UK.
“As many of us know, raising a family is one of life’s most incredible and rewarding experiences, but it is also at times one of the hardest jobs out there and sometimes we all need a bit of extra help to get by and give our children the best possible start in life.
“These awards are the least we can offer to the heroes that have inspired us and helped us to get through the daily challenges of everyday life.”
“These awards are a fantastic opportunity for us all to show our appreciation for the efforts of those that have helped to support families and children through the challenges that they often face in day to day life.
Anne Longfield OBE, chief executive of 4Children, said: “There is so much unrecognized goodwill out there of people who do so much for others, and the inspiring winners of the Family Heroes Awards remind us how important it is for us all to do our utmost to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Editor of Take A Break, Rebecca Fleming, added: “It is always an enormous privilege to meet all our Family Heroes finalists and to hear their stories. They are special people who every day go the extra mile to help others through difficult times. To us, they are all true heroes.”
