HMRC looks for graduates

HMRC is looking for 250 of the UK’s top graduates to join its graduate training scheme and has launched an online campaign to encourage people to apply.

They will gain first-hand experience of investigating tax fraud to negotiating settlements, while developing skills to tackle complex issues and lead their own team of tax professionals.

HMRC is searching for motivated and dedicated graduates with at least a 2:2 degree, in any subject. Last year, 190 graduates were successful in their application and started their training this September. Nineteen graduates started their training in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The deadline for all applications is midnight on Monday 14 November.

Janet Howe, HMRC Tax Academy, said: “The Graduate Tax Specialist programme is recognised as one of the best in the country. The diversity of the work at HMRC calls for a range of tax professionals and offers various career paths and possibilities. The programme is structured to identify and develop potential, ensuring graduates are ready to take up a senior tax position when they complete it.

“We are looking for intelligent and driven graduates of any age, whether they recently graduated or those looking for a change in career, from a range of backgrounds who are up to a challenge and want to help keep the UK working.”
