Back in January, a supporter of local group ”Hugh and Friends” approached Hugh with a challenge.
If the group would sing the vocal version of Elgar’s Nimrod at their next concert, he would make a substantial donation to their chosen charity Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
The next concert by “Hugh and Friends” will be their fifth, and probably last, concert in the name of Cameron Kelly on Friday, April 29 in the Carrick Centre. Cameron who is now studying in Edinburgh has Crohn’s disease and has received excellent care from Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
The concert will also feature Ayr Academy Choir and local accordion virtuoso Murray Patrick – and “Nimrod” will be the climax of the show!
Tickets are on sale from members and the Centre at £5 adults and £3 children.
There will be a raffle, for which prizes would be appreciated, and light refreshments will be available at the interval.
As usual all proceeds will go to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
Hugh Paterson expressed the hope that more than £1,200 would be raised to take total donations in the last few years to £8,500.
