Last week Dr Tom Smith, a retired member of Girvan Rotary Club, gave a very interesting talk on his life in Radio Broadcasting to the members of the club. Tom who stays in Pinwherry has been writing since 1977, after having spent five years in full-time practice in the Stinchar Valley, then seven years in medical research based in Southampton.
His talk on his Radio Scotland phone-in slot provided many funny stories of the excitement of doing live radio. Tom has written around 30 books, among them self-help books for patients and three humorous books. His talk was very interesting and humorous, and a barrage of questions followed. Dr Tom, pictured above with Ron Gibson, then enjoyed a marvellous meal at the Royal Hotel.
