People in Maybole and North Carrick are being encouraged to vote with their feet on how best to spend funding in their local community.

The Maybole and North Carrick decision day is being held on Saturday 3 December between 11am and 3pm at Maybole Town Hall. It’s part of a new way to encourage people to get actively involved in local decision making.

The event offers local people the opportunity to decide how money is spent in their communities. South Ayrshire Council and Maybole and North Carrick villages locality planning group is asking the public for their help in making the event a success by attending and voting on their favourite community groups from Crosshill, Dunure, Fisherton, Kirkoswald, Maidens, Maybole, Minishant, Kirkmichael, Straiton, and Turnberry.

For the latest event a fund of up to £29,000 is available, with 36 community groups pitching to an audience.

Registration is open from 10.15am on the day. All participants must register before the event start to be able to vote. For more call 01655 884882 or email Dawn.Parker@south-ayrshire.gov.uk

After all the pitches have been heard, the audience will vote to decide which groups should receive funding. Groups can be funded up to £1,000 for use in local projects. Voting is open to anyone aged eight years and over who lives, works studies or volunteers in North Carrick.

The money is being made available from South Ayrshire Council, the Scottish Government, North Carrick Community Benefit Company, and Big Lottery Fund - Scotland.

This is the second decision day held for Maybole and North Carrick villages, with the previous event in May making £20,000 available to 26 community groups for projects with a primary focus on health and wellbeing.
