A team of four enterprising young mathematicians from Girvan Academy took part in the 2014 Enterprising Mathematics in Scotland finals.

The competition is held annually in the Glasgow Science Centre and is sponsored by The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

The team comprised: Ailsa Buchanan and Alan Carle (both 4th year) and Monica Espinosa and Callum Skilling (both 3rd year).

The pupils built models, participated in team puzzle challenges and in a final round relay questions competition. Although they did not win, it was a fantastic opportunity for the Girvan Academy students to meet teams from other schools and to take part in a challenging and fun day.

Well done to all and a huge thank you to Mr Drennan who accompanied the pupils.
