Christine McNeish and staff at Maybole’s Co-op would like to thank the community for all their generous donations while they were in the local charity shop recently. The funds will go to projects at The Royal Hospital for Children which is part of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Last week, Co-op staff presented a cheque for £1,250 to Kenny Mackay whose daughter Eilidh is a patient at the hospital. Kenny said the money will be given to Ward 3B to buy more arts and crafts materials; the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Ward 1D for new DVDs; the Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Ward 2A, and the hospital’s Schiehallion Appeal.

Eilidh, 16, has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and was in the hospital for a year, home for a few weeks and has been back in hospital for the past three months. Kenny said that when they heard they funds had been allocated to them, he and his wife Lisa and family wanted to share it with others to help improve the quality of life while they are in the hospital. He added that the family are grateful to everyone at the hospital, to Maybole Co-op staff and everyone who had contributed through the charity shop.
