Memorial tree to help remember loved ones

A memorial Christmas tree is to take centre stage at a Girvan funeral home.

The Co-operative Funeralcare in Dalrymple Street, is providing the tree to help local people remember their loved ones during the festive season, which can often be an extremely painful time for the bereaved.

Families and friends are being invited to visit the funeral home and decorate the tree with cards in memory of those close to them who have died.

If they wish, families may also leave a small donation to charity. This year we are collecting for The Ayrshire Hospice Sun Room.

Eleanor Rae, Funeral Arranger at Co-operative Funeralcare, explained: “For several years now we have offered a memorial tree in honour of those who have died, it has proved to be a great help for relatives and friends.

“We know that Christmas and New Year, in particular, is a time when people look back and remember those they’ve lost and we hope our memorial Christmas tree will again benefit the families concerned at this difficult time,” she continued.

The funeral home is open from 9am until 4pm and people will be able to leave memorial cards on the tree right up until 24th December 2012.
