Gardenrose Primary’s new library was officially opened on Monday, November 16.

Over the past year, pupils have led the development of the school library.

With the help of local librarian Ailsa Innes, the many books the school already had were sorted through and many passed onto charity. Hundreds of new books including audio books and comics were purchased for the library along with new a soft seating area.

The Pupil Council members had the responsibility to complete the orders and then stamp and sort the books when they arrived in school.

To celebrate the completion of the library all staff and pupils dressed up as book characters for the day. Local author, Gillian Muir opened the library and then read to all of the classes.

The school would like to thank Gillian for her kind £100 donation towards books for the library as well as signing copies of her own Louis Louis books and Ailsa Innes from South Ayrshire Libraries for her advice.

Pupil Council Members:- Shane, Liam, Josh, Ben, Ava, Alana, Iona and Blair.
