Now that ‘The Voice’ has ended – prepare for another singing contest!
This time it is celebrities taking part with little participation from the audience at home. Ever since I first heard about this show I have thought that it sounded rather familiar.
How similar is it to the celebrity version of the classic Leslie Crowther/Matthew Kelly hosted programme ‘Stars in Your Eyes’? However I have discovered that there are a number of differences between the two shows.
To begin with, there seems to be little emphasis on having the celebrities looking like the singers that they are impersonating. Secondly each of the six celebrities will have to take on the roles of six different singers. Thirdly the celebrities have no choice over whom they are impersonating. That will be left to the ‘randomiser’ machine which at the end of each show tells them whom they are going to be performing as the following week. While’ Stars in Your Eyes’ was a more serious show, I think the emphasis on this programme is more on comedy. The show will be hosted by Paddy McGuinness and Alesha Dixon.
The celebrities throughout the series will be Alexander Armstrong, Bobby Davro, Cheryl Fergison, Denise Lewis, Matt Johnson and Natalie Anderson. Each week a special panel made up of regulars Emma Bunton and Julian Clary, plus a guest judge, will allocated marks to each of the six for their performances.
It is interesting to note that ITV have chosen to follow this programme with All Star Family Fortunes - another game show that original features ordinary members of the public!
