Old Dailly SWRI

The last meeting of the season was held in Dailly Community Centre on Wednesday 16th April.

President, Moira Yuille, welcomed a good turnout of members to the meeting. The rural song was sung. Apologies were then given and the president expressed condolences to the family of Mrs Turnbull , who died earlier in April. She had been a lifelong member of SWRI.

The minutes of the last meeting were then read by secretary, Jane Pitt. The AGM and presentation of prizes will be held after our end of season meal at Carlton Hotel in Prestwick., President, Moira then introduced Julie and Jim from Girvan Community Garden. They began by telling us how the project started, showing us slides of the process on the development of the lovely area there now. They had many challenges clearing the ground and acquiring finances to fund the project but have achieved so much with the help of many volunteers but are always looking for more help. They also go into the community and help with projects in schools with children visiting the garden for a host of activities. Recycling is very much part of their work so members were invited to plant up a small container e.g. cup and saucer or jug with small plant to be sited in our own gardens.

Secretary, Jane Pitt gave the vote of thanks on behalf of members and wished them luck and continuing success with their project.

Competition winners were: Decorated Bonnet: 1 Margaret Morgan 2 Anne Heriot 3 Isabel Wilson

Chicken Liver Pate: 1 Elspeth Hunter 2 Pat McCracken 3 Isabel Wilson.

The president then closed the meeting and wished everyone safe journey home.
