Girvan’s ASDA store had two very special customers on Thursday 8 August.
The staff in Vicarton Street were greeted by Scott Andrews and his dog Sam who are on a charity walk around the British coastline.
Scott works for ASDA in their Sunderland store in the warehouse and his visit to Girvan along with his German Shepherd friend was the 76th Asda store they have visited along the way,
The pair are raising money for two charities; Stray Aid and the Children’s society and Scott told the Gazette that nearly £40,000 has been raised now.
Scott said: “We have now covered 1219 miles on this journey since it began over three months ago and we’re averaging around 27 miles a day.
“All of the Asda staff have been brilliant wherever we’ve been and in Ayr yesterday it was a bit embarrassing really as about 40 of them clapped as we came round the corner, but me and Sam are just really enjoying ourselves and the support is fantastic.”
Scott has been given a career break by Asda to do the trip and says he couldn’t have done it without them.
“This could never have happened without the support of the community champions in each store who have helped us along the way. “We will actually be in the Faroe Islands in Christmas Eve as I found there was an Asda there and it was something I wanted to do.
“We raised £112.00 in the Ayr store yesterday and we’re averaging around 50-300 pounds at every store.”
Scott and Sam were certainly well supported by the Asda staff and you can help their cause too.
