Over 50s are willing to join us in the Community Centre at 1.45pm, doors open at 1.15pm.

Girvan & District Flower Club‘s next Demonstration takes place in Girvan Community Centre, Dalrymple Street, on Wednesday 26th October at 7.15pm.

Another date for your diary is Wednesday 23rd November, the Annual Open Evening takes place in Girvan Academy Theatre and the Demonstrator is Kathleen Williams On Tour from Oldham, tickets will be on sale at October demonstration.

Girvan & District History Society will hold the first meeting of the Winter session in the Mc Kechnie Institute, Dalrymple street, Girvan on Thursday 27th. at 7.30 p.m. when the Guest Speaker Mary Hogg will deliver a talk about ‘Scotland’s History through the Graveyard’.

Mary is a member of Maybole History Society and a keen photographer and researcher on the history of Ayrshire. Scotland graveyards are a rich resource, particularly from the mid 18th century when headstones became more popular. Mary will trace some significant historical and family events through the photographic evidence contained in the inscriptions. South Ayrshire’s Kirkyards and Cemeteries are fascinating places to visit and Mary’s talk will reveal some hidden secrets and obscure facts.
