Warm welcome at Stinchar Valley gardening club

The Stinchar Valley Gardening Club Autumn/winter programme is taking shape and the club is looking forward to its meetings when invited speakers talk on a variety of gardening subjects.

It also arranges “plant swaps” where they share surplus stock/bulbs with fellow members and guests.

The club meet at 7.30pm in Pinwherry Village Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from September to April and the dates/talks (which are followed by refreshments) are as follows: 18 September: Talk by Giles Davies, owner of “Elmlea plant centre”, Newton Stewart, on companion planting with perennials. Plant/seed swap; 16 October: Talk by Jacinta Saunders from the Bayview Nursery at Wigtown. Plant/seed swap. 20 November: “Gardeners’ Question Time” with a panel of “experts” invited to answer questions put to them by the audience; 18 December: Christmas meal at a local venue.

Look out for final programme details advertised in the press nearer the events. Subscription is £12 for the season or £3 per meeting. A warm welcome is given to new members and visitors.
