Last week The Rotary Club of Girvan spent the day at the very well organised 36th Carrick Lowland Gathering, which was held in Victory Park Girvan.

The weather was marvellous and the Rotary were selling raffle tickets to help support its many local charities. Much of the Rotary organisation for this event had been done by Mr. Andrew Ballantine a very active local Rotarian.

The day saw the supporters and visitors of the Gathering buy many raffle tickets and by 3 o’clock the draw was made by the Games Chieftain, Robert Gibson who was honoured with this position for his charity work with the Beatson Cancer Charity. The Rotary would like to thank Betty McQuiston, the Chairperson of Girvan Attractions, who laid on a truly great day for all of Girvan to enjoy.

The main winners of the raffle were nearly all Ayrshire and were; 6 bottles of whisky - Paul Brown of the Royal Hotel Girvan; 3 bottles of whisky - Richard Blanch Girvan; 2 bottles of whisky - John Harkins Wemyss Bay; 1 bottle of whisky - David Seaton Girvan; 2 bottles of wine - Ian Evans Kilmarnock;

All the bottles have either been collected or delivered. The club are grateful to William Grants of Girvan who assisted us with some of the prizes.
