A Girvan youngster who works with the Girvan Youth Trust has collected a prestigious award.

William McEwan was reward for his sterling efforts for the Youth Trust on Thursday night as he picked up the Community Involvement award at South Ayrshire Youth Forum’s wards.

William has been involved in numerous programmes with the Girvan Youth Trust throughout 2014 and he also completed a volunteer programme within Age Concern at Girvan.

Youth Trust chair Bill Logan said: “It’s a wonderful achievement for William and it reflects the work he has he has carried out in helping us organise the summer Music on the Prom programme along with the Tea Dances for the local elderly.

“He was the main driving force behind the idea and delivery of the Tea Dances.

“He is an excellent and committed volunteer for most things that GYT and OASIS Youth project do in the community.”

Fellow Youth Trustee Lauren Hercus was also nominated in the Learning And Development category at the awards ceremony which was reward for her involvement within the community, particularly for he r work in creating artwork which has been highlighted in some of the empty shops in Girvan town centre.

She was one of several youngsters involved in the project which has spruced up the look of Girvan recently.
