Your subject is - The History of Girvan Harbour

The next meeting of the Girvan and District History Society will take place in the Mc Kechnie Institute, Dalrymple Street, Girvan on Thursday 27th February at 7.30pm.

This month’s Guest Speaker is a well known face in Girvan, Roderick Leitch, the current Girvan Harbourmaster.

His subject is the History of Girvan Harbour from 4.6 billion years to the present day.

Using historic documents, old and new photographs, anecdotal evidence and just about every “ology” in the book, Roddy will show us why Girvan Harbour owes its existence not to the last Ice Age, but to geological forces millions if not billions of years ago.

Roddy expects that we will leave with more questions than answers, indeed, that is his intention.

Entrance: Members £1, non Members £2, this includes a cup of tea and a biscuit. All interested parties most welcome
