£33,000 confiscated from Ayrshire cocaine dealer

A Prestwick man sentenced to nearly three years in prison after police found class A drugs in his garden has been served with a confiscation order of £33,000.

On July 15 2010 police officers searched the Prestwick property of Andrew Alexander under warrant and found six wraps of white powder in the garden, which were valued at £6,720.

Alexander pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of cocaine when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on September 14 2010, and has been sentenced to 2 years 8 months imprisonment.

The money will be added to the £60 million already gathered from Proceeds of Crime and will be re-invested in the community by Scottish Ministers through the CashBack for Communities programme.
