FEARS over potential future jobs losses in the area were quashed with South Ayrshire Council's Grounds Maintenance Best Value Report.
Local land maintenance group ISS, which had the contract for grass-cutting, tending flower beds throughout Carrick, had been worried that should South Ayrshire Council take on the running of its contracted work, staff may lose their jobs.
But Sou
th Carrick councillor and Labour Group leader John McDowall reassured the Carrick Gazette immediately after Tuesday's Leadership Panel meeting at County Buildings that this would not be the case.
Speaking to the Gazette, he said: "The paper went through, ISS will continue to work until the end of the year.
"Then South Ayrshire Council will take over but there won't be any loss of jobs."
Mr McDowall continued that the council hopes that by taking over the running of local ground maintenance will provide a better service.
He added: "The council see it as being able to provide a better service in South Ayrshire.
"The existing staff will transfer over to council employment with no loss of jobs."
However, some councillors at County Buildings have concerns that by taking over contracts 'in-house' standards may drop through cost-cutting than they would if the remained to private contractors.
