Council did not consult

SOUTH Ayrshire Council was accused of "criminal irresponsibility" over the decision not to consult with the public about leasing its land to community groups.
South Carrick Councillor John McDowall launched the attack at last week's Girvan Community Council meeting when he revealed that, under the new legislation, from the start of next month some groups would have to produce business plans and audited accounts to prove they could afford to pay insurance, maintenance, repair and running costs.
