POLICE have praised the help of the community after a vandalising spree throughout Girvan by three youths.

Graffiti tags were found in 13 locations over the past couple of weeks and police were struggling for leads.
However, an appeal to the public for information gave them the lead they required and as a result three teenage males were reported for vandalism.
Two 15-year-olds and one aged 16 were reported to the procurator fiscal after an investigation by Girvan police.
Inspector Andy Clapperton told the Gazette: "We treat vandalism as a serious matter in this area and incidents of this type will certainly not be tolerated throughout Carrick.
"The help of the community is greatly appreciated and we can't thank them highly enough. Their help put us in the right direction with a lot of the good information they gave us.
"At the end of the day, through thorough investigations, we will always catch the persons responsible."
Inspector Clapperton also praised the Community Policing Team in Girvan for their work in catching the culprits by going into the area's schools to talk about the problem.
The issue had also been raised at a meeting of the Community Council as the vandalism continued to take place.
The young vandals left their calling sign on premises in Dalrymple Street, public toilets, and Hamilton Street.
The words 'Techno', 'ABBO' and 'FRATTS' were all found spraypainted throughout the town until police caught the juvenilessponsible last week.
