COMMUNITY conservationists were out in force at the weekend, cleaning up a stretch of the South Carrick coastline.
'Keep Ballantrae Beautiful' had organised a beach clean on Saturday, November 8 and was delighted to see a great turnout of volunteers of all ages from the surrounding area.
Within two hours they had filled a skip collecting debris from the foreshore, and cleaned up the November 5th bonfire site.
Villagers Diane Donaldson and Laura Edwards, who organised the event, said they wanted to thank everyone who turned up on the day and hoped they could count on their support for environment-related activities in 2009.
