Ayrshire bands headline Gig on the Green

AYRSHIRE bands Escapade and Counselled Out will headline the afternoon and evening sets at Girvan’s Gig on the Green this year.

Tthe annual Gig on the Green event will be taking place on Sunday 24th June from 12 noon till 8pm at Stair Park.

News on the other bands featuring at the event will follow shortly.

One of the most sought after bands in Scotland, Escapade are one of the few remaining fully live, five piece acts on today’s circuit. The band has a wealth of experience and prides themselves on their live sound and the success of any event can virtually guaranteed with these guys around! The band are celebrating their 22nd birthday this year and are promising to make ‘Gig on the Green’ their best gig yet!

Counselled Out was formed initially for a ‘one-off’ charity gig at the Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow in December 1990 – over 21 years later the 10-piece band is still a major force in the live music scene with its core line-up (including legendary front man - “Glasgow’s Soul Man” Drew Robertson and the “Reservoir Horns” brass section) consistent for the majority of these years.

Throughout the mid to late 1990’s, the band enjoyed a successful career both as a live act (selling out ‘mid’ venues throughout the UK and headlining a gig at Glasgow Green with an audience of over 15,000) and the release of an album and EP with some original material achieving significant level of national airplay. Since the new millennium the band has perhaps became better known as an in demand corporate event act but more recently has returned to the public domain through a series of gigs, both in the UK and Europe, in association with its joint sponsors – Buffet Crampon Group (based in France) and Band Supplies (based in Glasgow and Leeds). Counselled Out celebrated its 21st anniversary during December 2011 with a birthday party at the Ferry in Glasgow where it all began and a successful return to the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock (700+ audience), the venue where the band sold out an annual festive gig for 7 consecutive years. The band finished 2011 off with a headlining Hogmanay gig at Glasgow’s George Square which featured guest drummer, Ted McKenna of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band fame.
