Ayrshire charity secures lottery funding

AN AYRSHIRE charity for the elderly hearing impaired has just secured three years funding from the Big Lottery.

Improving Social Connections Supporting Independence for Older People with Hearing Loss has free Services throughout North, South and East Ayrshire.

Connecting with Communities; Monthly Drop In Centres where you can receive help with your hearing aids - Ayr, Cumnock, Girvan, Largs, Fenwick, Stewarton, Coylton, Millport.

Connections Volunteer Project; Regular volunteer visits providing help with hearing aids and social visit within Individual Homes, Day Care Centres, Sheltered Housing etc.

Communicating Together Support Group; Ayr weekly group meetings in Sutherland House with a varied programme from interesting speakers to crafts, flower arranging etc.

Communication Training Classes; These classes are for those with hearing loss who wish to learn techniques to help them cope with their deafness and learn good communication tactics and gain other valuable information.

Four weekly classes in Ayr, Cumnock, Girvan and Largs.

The Active Living Project has weekly sessions on different activities, for example indoor bowling, gardening, exercises, walking etc.
