Leading charity Action for Children Scotland is teaming up with The World of Eric Carle™ to encourage nurseries and groups for under-5s in Ayrshire to host a Giant Wiggle on Thursday 19 March 2015 to celebrate the UK’s most read children’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar™.

The event will bring together under-5s to wiggle along in giant caterpillar conga lines, encouraging them to help others, and opening up their imaginations through storytelling and creative activities.

Carol Iddon, director of children’s services at Action for Children Scotland, said: “We want to celebrate Eric Carle’s beloved book by encouraging children to get active and have fun.

“By hosting a sponsored Giant Wiggle you will help us to support vulnerable children, young people and families in the heart of communities in Ayrshire, and across Scotland.”

Action for Children Scotland provides early years child development, learning and childcare through its 75 services across the country.

In March 2014, more than 32,000 children from nearly 800 schools and nurseries took part in the very first The Giant Wiggle, raising £80,000 for Action for Children.

A prolific author and artist, Eric Carle has written and illustrated more than seventy books which have sold over 125 million copies worldwide. For more information, please visit: www.facebook.com/theworldofEricCarle
