Ayrshire Export Seminar planned for autumn

SMALL and medium-sized business-owners in Ayrshire are being encouraged to take part in an export seminar.

Organised by Ayrshire MPs, the Ayrshire Export Seminar aims to help those small and medium-sized businesses involved in the export field, and will feature CEO of UK Trade and Investment Nick Baird as a speaker.

Labour MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Sandra Osborne said she was concerned by recent Scottish Chamber of Commerce figures, which show that manufactured exports by Scottish companies shrank by 0.6 percent in the first quarter of 2012.

“A major destination for Scottish companies who are involved in exporting are Eurozone countries,” she said. “This is why it is vital that an effective plan to deal with the current economic difficulties in these countries is put in place.”

The seminar will take place on Wednesday September 20 at the Gailes Hotel, Irvine. Any businesspeople interested in taking part can contact Sandra on 01292 262906, or e-mail osbornes@parliament.uk
